Heading South for the Summer

After my wonderful and exciting summer in Detroit last year, I am determined to spend another summer in service. My experience with Motown Mission was more than inspirational. I had the opportunity to work with middle school and high school-aged youth daily, doing house repair and helping run the program, while spreading the love of God.  This summer I have the fortune of being able to work for Project Transformation, a non-profit organization that holds summer (and year-round) day camps for urban kids. So, I will be traveling south at the end of May and living on a college campus in Dallas, TX!  For this summer, I have the chance to work with elementary-aged youth. The program includes reading enrichment, arts and crafts, bible discussion, mountain biking excursions, and more. I hope to find out more about the program I am working with, but for now, I am just brushing up on my country!

Thank you for reading!

  1. Hi Shelley,

I'll be at Project Transformation this summer, too! I'm looking forward to meeting you and helping you learn some real southern slang, bless your heart. PT is a truly transformational experience- that's why I'm back for a third time :)

    All the best 'til May,
